ODS Individual Plan Renewal News for November 1, 2008

We are pleased to report that ODS has received filing approval by the state requesting an 8.9 percent increase in medical rates and a 5 percent increase in dental rates. The rate filing is currently pending approval by the state.

We have a new application for the renewal, which has been approved by the state for our renewal year November 1, 2008 through October 31, 2009. The state requires the use of the new application for all applications that are signed after November 1, 2008, no exceptions will be made. The old application can be used if signed before November 1, 2008, but cannot be used for a registered-domestic partner enrollment. The enrollment of a registered-domestic partner requires use of the new application.

Members received 30 days notice of the renewal rate and contract changes effective November 1, 2008. View a copy of the member letter for your reference and a summary of contract changes affecting Individual plans that your clients will receive.

We did not make any benefit changes to the existing portfolio of products beyond those indicated in the summary of contract changes, and we did not add or eliminate any plans this year.

The Dental Exchange product will also renew effective November 1, 2008 with a 5 percent rate adjustment. There are no benefit changes for this product, however we have created a new brochure and application.
